Letter of the Peterwardein mail-coach office, 1849
A letter in German from the imperial-royal mail-coach office at Peterwardein to the main mail-coach office in Pest, dated at Peterwardein in September 1849, three months after the fortress artillery had bombarded and burned Neusatz across the river. It refers to a note of 17 September 1849 missing from the file and names Wolfgang Hainacher and the mail-coach office at Esseg, today Osijek. Until Neusatz had a post office of its own, from 1853 or 1854, its mail went through Peterwardein.
