Neusatzer Lokalblatt
1 April 1871
Its masthead names it as a local paper for Neusatz and a messenger for the Bačka, and addresses itself to the man of business, trade and land, so a German-language weekly spoke for a whole region rather than for one town. This is number 14 of its fifteenth year. It appeared every Saturday at five florins a year, and took advertising through agents in Vienna, Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Basel and Zurich. The lead column follows the provincialisation of the Military Frontier, then being handed from Vienna to Hungary, and weighs what it would mean for a border population the paper describes as mixed between Serb, Croat, German and Romanian. The right-hand column reports the Serbian assembly held in the town on 26 March.
