One-krajczár copper coin of Hungary, 1848
A copper krajczár of 1848, among the first coins struck with legends in Hungarian, issued in the year of the revolution under the government in which Lajos Kossuth was finance minister. One side reads simply “EGY KRAJCZÁR 1848”, one krajczár, and the other carries the crowned arms of Hungary with “MAGYAR KIRÁLYI VÁLTÓ PÉNZ”, Hungarian royal change money. It belongs with the Kossuth notes of the same year, the money of the first Hungarian government.
