Five-forint state note of Hungary, 1848
A five-forint note of the Hungarian state, dated Buda-Pest, 1 September 1848, and signed by Lajos Kossuth as finance minister. Where the smaller notes rested on a bank, this one declares that the state itself guarantees its full face value and that every Hungarian treasury will take it as five silver forints. Its corners give the value in German, Slovak, Serbian and Romanian, the Serbian as Pet forinti.
