Letter of 1866 franked with a five-kreuzer eagle stamp
A folded letter sent in 1866 from Mariaschein to the district council at Karbitz, two towns in northern Bohemia, today Bohosudov and Chabařovice. It is franked with a 5 kreuzer of the Austrian double-headed eagle issue of 1863, the stamps of Neusatz's last years under the Austrian post. They were sold there until 1 June 1867 and stayed valid until 15 June, after the Hungarian post had taken over on 1 May; at Peterwardein, in the Military Frontier, they stayed valid until 1 September 1869. The address reads Einer Löblichen Bezirksvertretung zu Karbitz, to the worshipful district council at Karbitz.
