Ten-gulden note of the National Bank, Vienna, 1841
Ten gulden of the privileged Austrian National Bank, dated Vienna, 1 January 1841, series Kh, number 623317, designed in part by the painter Peter Fendi. The head of Austria, labelled “AUSTRIA”, sits between two cornucopias at the top, and two putti hold up the arms of the monarchy at the foot, between wreathed roundels carrying the warning against forgery and the value written out again and again. The promise is the one the bank made from 1816, ten gulden in silver coin of the convention standard.
