The State Civic Girls' School, Children Gathered on the Pavement
A long two-storey school range runs down the street, its frieze lettered for the state civic girls' school of Novi Sad. Children, most of them boys in caps, stand along the pavement below it with a few women and men, among them a woman in a white cap and apron with a pram. A baroque church tower closes the view to the left, and an ornate gas lantern on a wrought iron bracket projects from the lower house at the right. The sender, signing Lövenberg, wrote across the sky in Hungarian that the card asked for could not be had and would follow as soon as there was one, and dated it in Novi Sad on 5 August 1900. The building stands at Njegoševa 22, on the street then called Andrássy utca, and houses the Svetozar Marković Gymnasium today.
