A laden barge and a paddle steamer lie moored in the basin, the steamer with smoke rising from her funnel. Trees and a low building stand on the bank at the left, and the town runs along the far shore with factory chimneys among the roofs. The card is hand-coloured and captioned twice, in Cyrillic and again in Latin, naming the landing.
About this place
The Novi Sad bank of the Danube, the embankment walk between the bridges. It is where the town meets its river: steamers tied up along it, the ferry and later the pontoon crossing landed on it, and it is the vantage point for most photographs looking across to the Petrovaradin cliff. Today the embankment carries more than one name along its length, Beogradski kej and Kej zrtava racije among them, and this entry holds the general name for the whole walk.
