A bilingual share certificate of the Štrand company for two hundred crowns, number 3401, headed ШТРАНД Д. Д. in Cyrillic and STRAND R. T. in Latin, with the denomination set twice across a large figure 200. The body runs in two columns, Serbian at the left and Hungarian at the right, and four signatures are written below the printed titles of president and manager in each language. Two engraved vignettes fill the left border: a seated allegorical woman with a torch beside her and a reclining figure at her feet, and beneath that a bathing scene of two figures standing in the water with a low shore behind. The printer's imprint runs up the outer edge.

About this place
Štrand is the city beach of Novi Sad, on the Danube near the Freedom Bridge, and its name comes straight from the German word Strand. It opened officially in 1911 on a sandbar called Poloj that had served to water livestock and then held Stengl's bathing place, with separate sections for men and women; an organised lifeguard and swimming instruction service followed in 1912. The beach runs 700 metres and covers about 14 hectares, half sand and half green, with more than 830 cabins and over 400 trees, and it draws more than a million visitors between May and September. During the raid of January 1942, Hungarian forces brought arrested Serbs and Jews to the entrance of Štrand and killed them at the water's edge, pushing the bodies under the Danube ice.
