A boat in the flooded street
1900–1930
The corner building carries its beer hall sign in German alone. That is the only lettering in the picture, and it narrows the date no further than the years when German trade signs were still up on the street. A crowd packs the dry end while a rowing boat works along the flooded stretch beyond, and a fire pump or cart stands at the near end.
