Passengers by the Steamer at Novi Sad, 1965
A crowd of passengers, including children and women in fashionable coats, gathers on the quay beside the open side door of a moored river steamer in Novi Sad. The source names the vessel as the steamer Felszabadulas and places the scene during the 1965 Hungarian Writers' Union trip to Yugoslavia.
About this place
The Novi Sad bank of the Danube, the embankment walk between the bridges. It is where the town meets its river: steamers tied up along it, the ferry and later the pontoon crossing landed on it, and it is the vantage point for most photographs looking across to the Petrovaradin cliff. Today the embankment carries more than one name along its length, Beogradski kej and Kej zrtava racije among them, and this entry holds the general name for the whole walk.
