Silver thaler of Emperor Charles VI, 1714
Both faces of a silver thaler struck in 1714 for Charles VI: his armoured, bewigged bust with his titles as Roman emperor and king of Germany, Spain, Hungary and Bohemia, and the crowned double-headed eagle with the arms of his Austrian lands. It was struck a generation before 1748, the year Neusatz bought its charter as a free royal city from Maria Theresa and took its name, and paid for it in money still counted in Rhenish forints of 60 kreuzer.
