Twenty-kreuzer piece of Emperor Francis I, 1760
A silver twenty-kreuzer piece, the Zwanziger, of Emperor Francis I, Maria Theresa's husband, dated 1760, with his head inside a laurel wreath and his titles as Roman emperor, king of Germany and Jerusalem, duke of Lorraine and Bar and grand duke of Tuscany. The reverse sets the crowned double-headed eagle on a pedestal marked 20, under his motto “IN TE DOMINE SPERAVI”, in thee, Lord, have I trusted. Three of these silver twenties made a forint, the reckoning that the Kossuth notes of 1848 still used.
