Silver thaler of Maria Theresa, Kremnitz, 1747
A silver thaler struck at Kremnitz in 1747, the year before Neusatz bought its charter as a free royal city from the queen whose bust it carries, Maria Theresa. The reverse shows the Virgin with the Child on a crescent moon in a burst of rays, with the legend “S·MARIA·MATER·DEI PATRONA HUNG”, holy Mary, mother of God, patroness of Hungary, the letters K and B of the Kremnitz mint at her sides and the small arms of Hungary at her feet. The Wien Museum records it at 28.78 grams and 41.4 millimetres.
