The Danube seen from a vineyard-terraced hillside, looking across calm water toward a fortified bluff on the far bank and a hazy town skyline beyond. A small pavilion with a pointed roof stands in a garden at the foot of the slope in the foreground. A quiet, unpeopled snapshot taken from high ground above the river.
About this place
A settlement on the Fruska Gora side of the Danube, upstream of Petrovaradin and now part of Novi Sad. Cards sell it as Luftkurort Kamenitz, an air resort, and it was reached from the town by steamer. The imperial and royal infantry cadet school stood here, and the Serbian Orthodox church appears on cards captioned Kamenica in Serbian, Kamanc in Hungarian and Kamenitz in German.
