One-krone note of the Austro-Hungarian Bank, 1916
A single krone in paper, dated Vienna, 1 December 1916, when the war had driven the silver coins out of circulation and the bank printed its smallest note. Both of the monarchy's languages share this one face, “EINE KRONE” on the left and “EGY KORONA” on the right, between two women's heads and around a winged staff of Mercury carrying the numeral 1. The Austrian eagle stands in the lower left corner and the arms of Hungary in the lower right.
