A twelve-storey slab block stands finished at the head of the widened street, so the clearance for the boulevard was already well advanced. The shopfronts read FORUM on one side and a run of Cyrillic fascias on the other, one of them under a sign lettered PUBLIK, and a cast board at the kerb marks a taxi rank with a telephone number. A baroque bell tower with a clock in its stage still stands among the low houses beyond the ranks of parked cars.
About this place
Built in 1746 by Armenian Catholic refugees from Belgrade, consecrated to Saint Gregory the Illuminator. Damaged in the 1849 bombardment of Novi Sad and restored in 1872 with the support of Marija Trandafil. Demolished in 1963 for the widening of today's Bulevar Mihajla Pupina; a khachkar memorial marks the site.
