Two conductresses on the tram platform
Two conductresses stand back to back on the open rear platform of a wooden bodied tramcar, smiling at the camera, each in a peaked cap with a badge, a belted jacket and a calf length skirt, with a leather ticket satchel slung across the body. One keeps a hand on the grab rail behind her. Ornate pierced ironwork braces the platform canopy above them, a decorative touch left from the car's earlier manufacture, and the slatted timber fender stands out at the right. Their uniforms, ankle socks and low heeled shoes are of the 1940s, while the tramcar itself is an older design still kept in service.
