Kamenički park is the largest park in Novi Sad, about 20 hectares laid out around the Marcibányi-Karácsonyi castle at Sremska Kamenica. Count Guido Karácsonyi had it made in the middle of the 19th century on the model of English landscape parks, and the gardeners he engaged planted trees from all over the world; 88 species of evergreen and deciduous trees are recorded in it, including two downy oaks roughly 200 years old, and about two thirds of the ground is woodland. Paths run along the Danube, and the park holds an artificial lake, fountains, stone benches, riding trails and eight concrete bunkers left from the Second World War. Among its sculptures are the Five Heads on Rose Hill, a Pompeian column, a sphinx, an Adam and Eve and a reclining girl; the park has been protected as a monument of nature since December 2008 and, together with the castle, as a cultural and historical ensemble of great significance.
