Three-fillér Turul stamp with the War Aid overprint
A 3 fillér Turul stamp overprinted in red with Hadi segély, war aid, across the centre and Özvegyeknek és árváknak két (2) fillér around the frame: two fillér more for the widows and orphans of the war, paid on top of the postage. Hungary began overprinting its Turul stamps for war aid in October 1914 and issued a second series in January 1915. Charity surcharges were new to Hungarian stamps: the first, in 1913, had raised money for the flood victims of Krassó-Szörény county.
