The promenade kiosk, with café tables outside
A wooden kiosk with a shingled awning roof stands among trees, cafe tables and folding chairs set out on the gravel and two women in white dresses by the open doors. The caption gives the name in all three languages, Séta-téri kioszk, Киоск у промонади and Kiosk in der Promenade, and a handwritten message covers the sky above the trees and continues along the bottom margin.

About this place
The city's central park was laid out in 1895 on a swampy former branch of the Danube known as the Liman, until then a reedbed of willows, mosquitoes and frogs. Its small lake keeps an island named Erzsébet in honour of Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary, assassinated in 1898. The fountain sculpture of a nymph, the Girl with the Horn of Plenty by Đorđe Jovanović, was installed in 1912, and later decades added monuments to the poets Đura Jakšić (1982) and Miroslav Antić (1992). Covering four hectares with some 760 trees, the park is protected as a Monument of Nature.
