Sremska Kamenica seen across the water, its two church towers and the long roofline of the cadet school on the skyline, captioned in German, 'Gruss aus Kamenitz' (Greetings from Kamenitz). The publisher's imprint down the left edge names J. Singer, court photographer, based at Neusatz, while the sender dated the card in Hungarian at lower left, Ujvidék, 17 November 1899, so the city's German and Hungarian names sit side by side on the one card.

About this place
A settlement on the Fruska Gora side of the Danube, upstream of Petrovaradin and now part of Novi Sad. Cards sell it as Luftkurort Kamenitz, an air resort, and it was reached from the town by steamer. The imperial and royal infantry cadet school stood here, and the Serbian Orthodox church appears on cards captioned Kamenica in Serbian, Kamanc in Hungarian and Kamenitz in German.
