Jewish Forced Labor Servicemen on the March, Novi Sad, 1941
A column of men in civilian coats and hats walks along a dirt road, each wearing a yellow armband marked with a Star of David. Freight wagons stand alongside the road and a girder structure rises behind them. The donor's caption identifies these men as forced labor servicemen and places the demolished railway bridge in the background.
About this place
The Novi Sad bank of the Danube, the embankment walk between the bridges. It is where the town meets its river: steamers tied up along it, the ferry and later the pontoon crossing landed on it, and it is the vantage point for most photographs looking across to the Petrovaradin cliff. Today the embankment carries more than one name along its length, Beogradski kej and Kej zrtava racije among them, and this entry holds the general name for the whole walk.
