1917Sremska Kamenica
Novi Sad Across the Danube, a Wide Panorama From the Hillside
Another hazy river view, faint spires marking the town's skyline across the water and a dark treeline along the near bank. A private snapshot, dated only 1917.
About this place
A settlement on the Fruska Gora side of the Danube, upstream of Petrovaradin and now part of Novi Sad. Cards sell it as Luftkurort Kamenitz, an air resort, and it was reached from the town by steamer. The imperial and royal infantry cadet school stood here, and the Serbian Orthodox church appears on cards captioned Kamenica in Serbian, Kamanc in Hungarian and Kamenitz in German.
