Church Towers Reflected in the Marsh, Novi Sad
Standing water on the edge of the town, reeded and still, with the roofs and two church towers reflected in it. The card is captioned in three scripts, Ujvidek, Нови Сад and Neusatz.
About this place
The city's central park was laid out in 1895 on a swampy former branch of the Danube known as the Liman, until then a reedbed of willows, mosquitoes and frogs. Its small lake keeps an island named Erzsébet in honour of Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary, assassinated in 1898. The fountain sculpture of a nymph, the Girl with the Horn of Plenty by Đorđe Jovanović, was installed in 1912, and later decades added monuments to the poets Đura Jakšić (1982) and Miroslav Antić (1992). Covering four hectares with some 760 trees, the park is protected as a Monument of Nature.
