The shopfronts are all lettered in Hungarian, with the surnames set first in the Hungarian order even where the names themselves are German, so the street's trade had taken up the administration's language. Women sit along the pavement behind wicker baskets of produce, and two small clerestory-roofed tram cars stand at the end of the street with a horse harnessed in front of one of them. There is no overhead wire, so this is the horse tram and the picture predates electrification.
