The Power Station and Tram Track
A single electric car stands on the track that runs into the site, so the generating station and the tramway shared the same ground. The caption names the electric works twice over, in Hungarian and in Serbian Cyrillic, for a town that read both scripts.
About this place
Novi Sad's city power plant began delivering electricity in 1910, meeting one of the preconditions for the electric tram network that opened on 30 September 1911. The bombing of a power plant in 1944, during the Second World War, knocked the tram service out of operation. The trams themselves ran until 1958, when buses replaced them. The tram depot stood next to the plant, close enough that the two are easily confused; it was a separate establishment and has its own entry once a coordinate for it exists.
