An architect's coloured ground-floor plan, hand-lettered in Hungarian alone at a scale of 1:100, so the design was drawn for the municipality before 1918. A red stamp struck in two corners names a Budapest contractor for water, heating and lighting plant, which shows the town went to the capital for its services. The room names set out how the place was meant to work: an octagonal great pool with a fore-bath, showers and massage around it, changing cubicles beyond, then two separate ranges of tub baths keeping first and second class apart, and a cash desk, doctor, barber, entrance hall, dining room, kitchen and rooms for guests and for servants filling the street range.
About this place
Iodine-rich mineral water was struck here in 1897 during drilling for drinking water near the Futog forest. A spa was built from 1908 and opened in 1910, its Secession-style main buildings designed by the Budapest architect Imre Francsek. The complex, which included the Park hotel and a bathhouse, was enlarged in 1931 and remained a well-known resort into the 1960s; its central pool closed in 1977. The buildings today house the Special Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, the only specialised rheumatology institution in Vojvodina, and the whole ensemble is protected as a cultural-historical complex.
