# The Archduke Joseph honved barracks

A long two storey barrack block seen across a wide expanse of open ground. Its front runs almost the full width of the card, a regular range of round headed windows to both floors under a continuous eaves, broken at the centre by a slightly projecting pavilion carrying a lettered panel and a small balcony, with a low porch beneath it. A boundary wall with piers runs along the front, behind which a line of young trees is planted at regular intervals. Small figures stand and walk along the wall and at the gateway, and a horse and cart wait further along to the right. The foreground is a great open field of rutted mud with standing water in the hollows and a rough track crossing it, and two figures in long coats walk toward the camera across it. A utility pole stands at the right.
