# The Fortress of Peterwardein and the Bridgehead at Neusatz, by Jakob Alt

A wide reach of the Danube, with Petrovaradin fortress on its escarpment to the left and the pontoon crossing toward Novi Sad drawn faintly across the water at the right. A moored cargo barge with a raked mast dominates the centre, a boat of travellers is rowed past the near shore, and willow scrub closes the right foreground. The caption reads "SYRMIEN. / Die Festung Peterwardein und der Brückenkopf zu Neusatz.", and the margins carry "gez. v. J. Alt" and "Druck v. Kunike". This is a large, richly inked impression.
