# House of Public Health on Mali Liman

A large classicist block stands by itself on raw open ground, six Ionic columns rising through its upper two floors under a shallow pediment, with saplings newly staked along its frontage and thistles filling the foreground. Telegraph poles run across the empty parcel and the roofs and towers of the old town lie along the horizon to the left, the tall spire among them belonging to the Name of Mary Church. This is the House of Public Health, built on the reclaimed ground of Mali Liman after the flood terrain along the Danube was filled in, to a design by the Russian émigré architects Jurij Nikolajevič Šreter and Konstantin Petrovič Parizo de la Valet, whose composition has been described as a reduced replica of the Senate and Synod in St Petersburg. The street before it was then Bulevar kraljice Marije and is Bulevar Mihajla Pupina today.
