# Banners at the old station after the liberation

A view along the front of the old railway station, a plain rendered building of two and three storeys with wide openings at platform level. Two painted banners are fixed across its frontage, the lower running the width of the frame and the upper cut by the edge of the picture. The station's own name board stands out at the right. A dense crowd of civilians is packed behind a low railing on the platform, men in caps and hats, women in headscarves and coats, many with bundles and cases. In the left foreground a group of soldiers in sidecaps and field kit stand and squat about their packs, one crouching over a bicycle. Two more walk away down the track side toward the crowd, and a soldier stands at the right of the frame looking back at the camera. Tram or siding rails run along the foreground.
