# Pontoon bridge

The timber roadway runs out on its floats with uniformed soldiers standing along it, and a gas lantern on a timber post marks the bridgehead. The bridge was the charge of the pontonier detachment at Petrovaradin, which laid it each spring and lifted it before the ice. The caption names the town three times over, Ujvidék, НОВИ САД and Neusatz, the trilingual form used before 1918, and the plate is numbered 1308.
