# The old Novi Sad marshalling yard from the air

An oblique aerial over the old marshalling yard and locomotive depot at Železnička kolonija, between Detelinara and today's Novo naselje. Rank after rank of parallel sidings packed with freight wagons fill the foreground and the left of the frame. At the right stands the horseshoe-shaped Ložionica, the locomotive roundhouse, set around a central turntable with its tracks fanning out into the building; heritage documentation records 22 radial tracks running from the turntable through double metal doors. Workshops, service buildings, fenced compounds, arched prefabricated sheds and a few road vehicles are spread across the middle and upper part of the complex, with houses and gardens beyond it. The photograph shows the whole working yard that once surrounded the Ložionica, which survives.
