# Fortress gate from Strossmayer Street

A blank cartouche panel is set over the arch under the pediment, and whatever was once cut or painted on it has gone, so the gate now carries no inscription at all. A heavy iron grille closes the opening and a flight of concrete steps with plain parapet walls has been built up to it. The revetment on one side keeps two small square loopholes, a lean-to shed leans against the wall on the other, and weeds have taken the whole approach, with children sitting up on the wall above the arch.
