# Silver twenty-kreuzer piece of Ferdinand, Kremnitz, 1846

A silver twenty-kreuzer piece of 1846 from the Kremnitz mint, whose letter B stands under the laureate head of Ferdinand, emperor of Austria and, as “H·N·V” in the legend says, the fifth king of Hungary of that name. The reverse keeps the Virgin and Child of Hungarian coinage, seated on clouds in a burst of rays above the value 20, with the legend “S·MARIA·MATER·DEI·PATRONA·HVNG”. Three of these made a forint of convention money, the reckoning Neusatz still used when the revolution broke out two years later.
