# An electric tram in Rákóczi Ferenc Street

A hand-tinted postcard looking down the street toward the neo-Gothic spire of the Roman Catholic church. A single-deck electric tram stands on the right-hand track under its trolley pole and overhead wire; a corner building with round-headed windows and a wall-mounted lamp closes the left side, and shopfronts with awnings run away on the right. Men in hats and boaters and women in long skirts stand about the roadway, which is paved and empty of motor traffic. Two things date it: the caption is lettered in Hungarian and German only, so the card is Austro-Hungarian and predates 1918, and the tram is electric, which the town's line became in 1911. The street is the one now called Jevrejska.
