# The tunnel mouth below the fortress

The long barrack ranges of Petrovaradin Fortress run along the crest with the terraced escarpment and bare rock below them. At the foot the railway arrives on a lattice girder bridge from the left, and the arched mouth of the tunnel is cut into the rock beside a small gabled building, with post and rail fencing along the trackside. The Danube fills the foreground.
