# Novi Sad airfield

Two oval insets are printed into the sky above the main view and the card names neither of them: one an officer in a dark tunic wearing six or more decorations with a breast star, the other an airman in a soft flying helmet looking out over the rim of an open cockpit. Below them a barrel-vaulted hangar boarded in timber, with a glazed clerestory band and a workshop annexe at its end, stands with its doors run back. Six biplanes are drawn out on the grass and some fifteen men in uniform are lined up in front of them.
