# Reverse of the ten-forint Kossuth note, 1848

The back of the ten-forint note, printed on an ochre ground inside a scalloped border, repeats the fifteen-year penalty for forgery in Hungarian, German, Slovak, Serbian and Romanian. The notes of September 1848 paid for the army the Hungarian government raised that autumn, and after its defeat in 1849 the Austrian authorities called them in and burnt them.
