# Looking down on the Marshal Tito bridge from the fortress

A high summer view north across the Danube from the walls of Petrovaradin. The Marshal Tito bridge runs the width of the frame on its stone piers, a riveted steel truss over the main channel giving way to a lighter lattice approach on the Petrovaradin side, with a few figures walking the footway. Beyond it the city spreads flat to the horizon: the twin spires and the tower of the churches at the left, a taller block and a factory chimney at the right, and a row of new apartment slabs standing along the quay above a broad new embankment. In the middle distance the lower fortress terrace has been laid out as a park, with fresh paths, mown grass, young trees and a brick revetment stepping down toward the water. Three girls in patterned summer dresses stand at the parapet with their backs to the camera, and two young men sit on the coping a little further along, one stretched out on his side. The foreground is the fortress's own worn brick paving.
