# The Fallen Bridge Below Petrovaradin Fortress, 1941

The viewer stands on the muddy foreshore, a small wooden shed and stacked barrels in the foreground and a soldier walking past. Two collapsed sections of the road bridge lean into the river at different points, their girders and lamp pylons tilted toward the water. Across the river rises Petrovaradin Fortress, its long barracks building and ramparts visible on the hill.
