# Consecration of the new Serbian Grand Gymnasium

A crowd packs the ground before a raw brick building still ringed with timber scaffolding, the poles rising past its arched windows and the brick piers of its veranda. Most of those facing the camera are boys and young men in peaked caps, straw boaters and bowlers, with women in wide hats and men in dark coats among them, and several boys have climbed the tree on the right to see over the heads. Behind the crowd a group of Orthodox clergy stands under a processional banner, with a cross and a lantern carried on poles beside it, and a marquee is pitched among the trees. This is the consecration of the new building of the Serbian Orthodox Grand Gymnasium, raised to Vladimir Nikolić's design in the street then called Aranydomb utca and known today as Zlatne grede.
