# The new bridge going up below the fortress

The new road bridge under construction, its first steel truss reared up on the near bank with two flags flying from the top and a crane working beside it, the piers and falsework carrying on across the water. Wagons and spoil heaps fill the raw cutting in the foreground where the approach embankment is being formed, and beyond the river the barracks of Petrovaradin Fortress run along the crest with the railway bridge at the right.
