# The Raid on Miletić street, January 1942

Soldiers in steel helmets and long greatcoats stand along a row of single-storey houses in deep snow, some bending over the ground, while the bodies of the victims lie on the pavement and out in the roadway and are dragged over the packed snow on low sledges. A sentry with his rifle slung walks towards the camera in the foreground. The houses have ornamented stucco surrounds to their windows and a long shop fascia, and two windows in the wall beyond are bricked up. The photograph records the Raid, the killings in Novi Sad and the surrounding Bačka in January 1942; this copy is a halftone reproduction from a printed page.
