# Petrovaradin Fortress beyond the Broken Railway Bridge

The last standing span of the railway bridge juts out from the Novi Sad bank on the left, and beyond it only bare piers cross the Danube toward the Petrovaradin fortress, whose long barracks run along the hilltop above the town. The bridge was blown up in April 1941, and the caption, Ujvidék-Pétervárad, in Hungarian alone, belongs to the occupation that followed.
