# Tramcars lined up at the new depot

Several of Újvidék's first electric tramcars stand on the yard tracks and inside the newly built tram depot at the beginning of the city's electric tram era. Cars 25 and 26 are visible in the foreground, with Hungarian destination boards for the hospital and railway station. They belonged to the original series of two-axle motor cars built by Ganz & Co. in Budapest for the Újvidék system and numbered 21–35. The first eight cars reached the city on 21 August 1911, trial running followed in September, and public electric tram service officially opened on 30 September. The depot stood immediately beside the city's new electric power station, linking the introduction of electric public transport directly with the electrification of Novi Sad.
