# The main square looking to the town hall

A printed card of a broad open square seen along its length. In the left foreground the Holy Trinity column stands on its stepped base within a low railing, its shaft carrying carved cloud and figures and a gilt group at the summit, with a tall ornamental gas lantern on a fluted column beside it. Beyond the column a line of two and three storey houses runs down the left side, their ground floors given over to shops under awnings, and large lettering across one upper storey reads МАТИЦА СРПСКА. The square itself is open and lightly peopled, a few figures crossing the cobbles and a cart standing at the far side, and it narrows at the end to the front of the town hall with its tower. A handwritten message in ink runs across the sky.
