# The Danube water level signal mast below the Petrovaradin clock tower

A close view of the Petrovaradin clock tower shows its large round face with Roman numerals set beneath a copper ovoid roof and a weathervane at the very top. Beside it stands a wooden signal mast strung with cables and hung with large dark spherical markers and a checkered panel at its base, a river signaling rig for water level or navigation. Across the Danube behind the tower, a modern arch bridge and a tall building rise on the far bank, and a few pedestrians walk along the terrace in front.
