# Fifteen-kreuzer stamp of the 1858 Austrian issue

The 15 kreuzer of the issue that came with Austria's change to decimal currency on 1 November 1858: the head of Emperor Franz Joseph facing left, embossed white on a blue ground, on the first Austrian stamps with perforations. Fifteen kreuzer was the highest of the three letter rates, for the longest distances. The issue was sold at Neusatz and Peterwardein as everywhere in the empire, and in the Hungarian lands it stayed valid until 31 May 1864. This copy was cancelled on 21 November at Eisenstadt, then Kismarton in western Hungary.
